We’ve all been taught that to lose weight, we should eat less calories than our body burns throughout the day. We can do that by restricting the amount of food we eat and/or increasing our exercise.
But, it isn’t as simple as this… there’s a complex equation at work. The kind of food we eat, how our body metabolizes the food (repair or store), the time of day we eat the food, and our bio-individuality are just a few things that play a role in what happens to the calories we eat.
We also need to consider how difficult it is to get an accurate measurement of the amount of calories in a food. Labels can have +/- 20%. So that 100 calorie “bar” you just ate could have been 120 calories.

Now… I don’t discount the value of tracking your food. Because research proves that the things we measure (track) are the areas we improve on. When you’re just starting keto, when you’re struggling with a plateau, or when you want to drop weight fast for a special event… these are times you should track your food.
